Happy New Year!

So, it's 2010. The end of 2009 was crazy. I was working part-time seasonally at Crate and Barrel (big mistake) and started up my paparazzi gig in Santa Monica too, so I was a busy Christmas bee this holiday season.

Crate and Barrel... let's just call it my retail experience, or shall I say my retail curiosity is satisfied. Dan kept saying, "you're gonna regret it, it's hard work..." my sister said, "why the hell would you want to work retail?! You're crazy..." Tritia said, "Oooh! I worked at Pottery Barn one season and it was sooo fun!" Alaine said, "Ooh! I was gonna apply for a seasonal job at Off 5th!" So I decided to just go for it. It was fun until I discovered 85% of the job requires you to be in the stock room as much as you can to grab items and keep the floor stocked. I always thought they had people specifically for this role. Not!

Ringing people up, boxing things, and looking at all the nice shiny merchandise was always fun, but I loathe the stock room. It smells, it's cold in there, it's dusty, and they're always blasting Tu Pac or Madonna. Needless to say, it was an experience. I definitely bought more than I made, but at 30% off, I didn't feel so bad doing it. Will I ever work retail again? Fred Segal, please hire me!! That's the only store I will work retail.
