Cigars

I'm not going to lie to you when I say that quitting smoking was the proudest moment in my life. I feel like a champ.

But, I have those nights when I go out and need that oral fixation. Plus it's so good with a cocktail and not to mention post meal. My new bad but not-so-bad discovery? Cigars. Once you learn how to appreciate the taste without inhaling, it's quite fun. Spoken like a true beginner smoking my $4.99 cigar.

As I like to say, all things in moderation. I'm not addicted, just think it's fun to do every now and then. Gee'z stop making me justify it!

Leona Lewis

While watching Oprah yesterday I was completely mesmerized by this British girl who won the UK's equivalent to American Idol. You HAVE TO SEE THIS!

Movies I've Recently Seen

No Country for Old Men - Was on the edge of my sofa with the blanket over my eyes! Loved it! (Like the scary photo, Friendo?)

Dan in Real Life - I actually laughed out loud! Cute movie.

Eastern Promises - Western boredom. Bo-ring. But there is a naked shower fighting scene with Viggo Mortensen where he's being thrown everywhere and you can see his junk! Let me also say that I am so tired of seeing Naomi Watts in movies where she has to uncover the truth about someone that died mysteriously or murdered. Why don't you try a romantic comedy, Naomi?

Darjeeling Limited - (shrug my shoulders and say: eh.) Nothing special. A lot of talking. I feel like they were trying too hard to be "indie" with the music and dialogue. However, thank god for Adrien Brody whose character was subtle and lovable. Everytime I saw Owen Wilson, I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or serious. He's in so many comedies and plays the same type casted role - I was confused watching him.

Beowulf - the special effects are amazing. Worth watching just for the fight scenes.

Amazing Race

I used to watch CBS's Amazing Race religiously. I especially remember season 6 with Kris and Jon. They always wore visors and Jon was always yelling at Kris. They were competitive, athletic, and came in second. That was the last season I saw of Amazing Race so it really stuck with me.

Jump to this past January when I went to Scottsdale for work. My associate and I were working out of the "it" club in Scottsdale called Six. While setting up in the VIP room, in walks the manager, that's right, Jon from season six of Amazing Race! It was a surreal moment. I know he's not a celebrity or anything, but it was definitely weird. We talked about the show and he told me about all the crazy moments with the camera and sound guy. Each couple on the show get one and can't be more than 10 feet apart at any given moment. Needless to say, he said the production for the show is insane. Jon is still dating Kris and is a really nice guy.

Men and TV

I hate to admit it, but Dan and I fight about the TV. Here are the differences between us, as man and woman, and I would like to believe that I'm right.

Me: I like to watch ONE channel, preferably on the DVR.
Him: He likes to watch 3 or 4 channels at once, flipping through commercials, missing most of all the shows anyway and knowing exactly when to change it right when it starts to get interesting. (Thanks!)

Me: I'm quietly watching. Quietly.
Him: Shouting and cursing at the TV, sports-related or non. (For the last time, they can't hear you!)

Me: I hate commercials and watching non-recorded shows.
Him: Will never watch sports that's recorded. (So what? Don't get tempted to find out who won and it's like a shiny new game!)

Am I wrong?

Northern Cali

Back in the day when I was young, I used to take monthly trips up to Oakland to visit my sister (that was more than a decade ago). Since then, I really haven't ventured out there. My sis recently moved up there again and I forgot how much I love northern Cali. It helps that she lives in a brand new building where there are things to do within walking distance, including the BART. Northern Cali is like a slower paced LA with a more beautiful back drop and cleaner air. I absolutely enjoy being there and will go as much as I can for mini vacations.
