So after months - literally months, of me deliberating whether or not I should buy the Nike ipod sport kit, I decided it was worth it. Ipod kit - $30, Nano $150 (I already had this so it was worth it), Nike shoe - $80 (Zappos.com).
My shoe arrived yesterday from Zappos.com (they overnighted it for FREE - gotta love Zappos!) and I tried it out when I walked home from work. I already knew that my work was 1.5 miles door-to-door one way to my house. While walking home and listening to my music, a pleasant voice came out as the music was slightly lowered and said, "half a mile completed." HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! Then it keeps going from there, "one mile completed, 300 meters to go.." etc.
It was right on the dot 1.5 miles as I walked up the front steps to my apartment. Not only that, when you press the middle button to finish your workout, it tells you how many calories you've burned, your pace, what pace you should be walking/running, AND you can even go on the Nike website and challenge yourself or other people - imagine a Myspace, but with Nike ipod kit users. It's truly worth it if you love walking/running. Even if you work out on the treadmill at the gym it's worth it. In case anyone decides to do it, my Nike log in name is RunningF001 (that's a 001 at the end.) Who's with me?
